Testimony
Always my mind was turning
each good memory to rot, so surprised
to find an old photo that told me otherwise
or hear from the past a friend
who uttered my name with tenderness.
Covered with the dirt of another
world, I heard the crumbling
behind each good thing, felt its touch
on my grubby sleeve, this world
that was always darkening.
