Grief Drops In
in memory of my friend
Dinner with your husband–
easy conversation and tall tales,
old-time jazz on the jukebox.
In the center of the table,
a basket of fries to share–
his hand reaching for one,
his ring finger bare.

Beautiful poem–thank you. I love the last image.
Love–so much in just a few lines.
One of my favorite poets! Her words place us directly in the present moment of what IS.
You’ve captured this poignant moment so beautifully.
