Self-Sovereignty by Anne Elizabeth O’Regan

Self-Sovereignty

It seems that everywhere
I turn these days there’s a promise
of life transformation.
I’m getting a little tired of it.

Even this cookbook promises
to “calm my mind and
transform my life.”

Please, all I want from you
dear cookbook is a recipe for
cauliflower soup. You needn’t
transform my life. Inspire
my taste buds? Sure. Put sparkle
into my noonday lunch? You bet.

I’d welcome that.
