My God, this giant hyssop,
purple, bees trembling
all over it and I
alive standing before its
tall offering to these bees
and the goldfinches:
itself, itself.

Sally Nacker lives with her husband and two cats in a small house in the woods. Wild birds are her joy. She is a former recipient of the CT Audubon Society’s Trail Wood Sanctuary Artist & Writer-in-Residence Program in Hampton, CT. Publishing credits include ONE ART: a journal of poetry, Third Wednesday, The Sunlight Press, Canary, and The Orchards Poetry Journal. Prior books are Vireo, Night Snow, and Kindness in Winter.
